head pounds
chest burns
as my feet
hit the ground.
feet sink in
to the tiny
stones. fail to
notices the
grayness left
beneath me.
grip the chains
in either hand
as i slip onto
the wide black
band. deceptive
sturdiness as my
feet leave the
ground. air
escapes my
chest as my
heart pounds
for a fleeting
moment then
drops to the
it of my stomach.
shadows crawl and
the sun embraces
my face. my insides
beg to soar
while my smile
begs for more.
